Brooke Henderson Triumphs at the 2025 CPKC Women’s Open

Mississauga, ON – August 25, 2025

In a heart-stirring finale at the Mississaugua Golf & Country Club, Canada’s own Brooke Henderson captured her second CPKC Women’s Open title, closing out the tournament at an impressive 15-under-par, just one stroke ahead of Australia’s Minjee Lee.

A Final Round for the Ages

Henderson delivered an exceptional performance on Sunday, firing a 4-under 67 to seal the victory. The honor was particularly meaningful as it ended a more than two-year LPGA title drought and marked her first LPGA Tour win since January 2023—bringing her career total to 14 victories, the most ever by a Canadian professional golfer.

The Defining Moments

      • The Turning Point: Henderson pulled ahead with a clutch 6-foot birdie on the 14th hole and followed up with another key birdie on the 17th, outdueling Lee in the final pairing.

      • Third Round Drama: The previous day, Henderson electrified the crowd with an eagle from a bunker on the par-4 17th, carding a 6-under 65 to tie for the 54-hole lead with Lee.

    Challengers Rise But Fall Short

Australia’s Minjee Lee, a two-time major champion, kept pressure on til the end with a solid 68 in the final round, finishing just one shot behind the champion.

Meanwhile, Japan’s Mao Saigo shot a final-round 66 to move into third place at 11-under. Akie Iwai, who led early in the tournament, closed at 10-under, rounding out the top four.

Bright Spotlight on a Rising Star

Amid the veteran performances, 15-year-old Aphrodite Deng from Calgary emerged as the lowest amateur and a story of the week. Tied for seventh entering the final round, Deng finished at 4-under overall—a stunning showing in her first CPKC Women’s Open.

    Significance of the Victory

This triumph isn’t merely another trophy—it’s a deeply personal and national one. Henderson first made history in 2018 by becoming the first Canadian to win the national women’s open since 1973. Now, seven years later, she’s done it again, reaffirming her legacy and thrilling fans across the nation.

    In Her Own Words

Reflecting on her emotional win, Henderson said:

“This week was beyond special. To be able to finish it off and hoist the trophy again is extremely cool.”

As for Lee, she acknowledged the challenge:

“I kind of got out-played. I can’t really say anything.”

    Looking Ahead

Henderson’s return to the winner’s circle at her home championship is a reminder of what makes golf—and sports at large—so compelling. With the victory now behind her, fans will be watching to see how she rides this momentum through the rest of the season.
