From the Players’ Own Voices
Allisen Corpuz, who had struggled to find her rhythm earlier this season, shared a moment of optimism:
“Just feel like golf is such a funny game. Even if it hasn’t been the results that I wanted to see, it’s just felt really, really close all season. It was a good start to the season and kind of just feel like things are starting to turn the corner a bit.”
Jodi Ewart Shadoff, overcoming a tough injury layoff, radiated emotion:
“It’s nice. It’s been a while. I haven’t played very well for the last 18 months since I got injured, so it’s been a very tough comeback… I didn’t know if I would ever get to shoot a round like today again, but I’m finally kind of mentally feeling better about things and more in control of my game and like how I’m hitting the ball.”
Sei Young Kim, ever the veteran competitor, played with composure:
“This course not short and not long… my short game… has been a little stronger than before so I made a lot of birdie chance from there.”
Nelly Korda, whose putter switch is paying dividends, kept things concise:
“Yeah, it was overall a solid day. No complaints.”
Round One Highlights
- Momentum and form: Corpuz’s patient play and Shadoff’s emotional break-through underline returning confidence. Kim’s consistent ball-striking reminds fans why she’s a 12-time LPGA winner. Korda’s putter change may spark a true turnaround.
- Course context: TPC Boston plays medium-length but demands precision. Birdie chances abound — and the leaders are taking advantage.
- What’s next: With the scoring mark of 62 still out there, the stage is set for a thrilling weekend.
Looking Ahead
As weekend play looms, this lead trio will need to keep the pedal down under shifting winds and firm conditions. Meanwhile, Korda and others are within striking range — and plenty of storylines are heating up.
